Welcome!

This is just a bit about me...I think blogging is a great creative outlet. Not to mention the fact that I love to talk, so this is just like talking about all the thoughts that go through my mind each day and sharing it with you! Aren't YOU lucky?!

TEEN DRIVERS!!?!?!

I had an epiphany today... my son who turns 14 this month, will be driving sooner than I want to even think about. This is a bit too much. Just yesterday he was cute, cuddly and all about two feet tall. Now he is almost taller than me, handsome, and a teenager. Where does the time go? I know he is my only child, so maybe I am a bit overboard, but him growing up and leaving is becoming more of a reality everyday.

Angel Food Ministries

A while back I read about a great organization in my Woman's Day magazine call Angel Food Ministries. They are a wonderful organization that offers high quality meals to families at very affordable prices. This is not some type of food bank where recipients get less than stellar food, it is truly high quality food for less. In most cases the boxes feeds a family of 4 for a week for $30 when the food you get is really worth about $65. I was blown away, because I know alot of people with larger families who in this economy are having it rough.

There are no forms to fill out regarding income, etc. You simply find a local church where they offer the program, put in the order, pay upfront and in a week or two the order comes in.

Check out the site and be sure to pass it along to anyone you think may be interested!

The Famous Finger Cutting Incident of 2008.

It was a beautiful Saturday, on December 27, 2008. I was intermittently watching re-runs of the Real Housewives of Atlanta and decided that I wanted to take down all Christmas decorations except for the tree, so that after the holidays I could take my time and get everything put away nicely, and not have to spend an entire day doing it.

With that being said, I have a railing in my upstairs living room and I use wire ties to hold in place my lighted garland (the thick plastic ones that you slip through and pull to tighten), these need to be cut off when you are done with them. So I can't find the kitchen scissors, but being the genius I am I find the sharpest knife we have and decide to use that to cut off each wire tie.. Do you see where this is going? I slip the knife under the first wire tie and pull hard toward myself... all of a sudden it all goes wrong. The knife successfully cuts through the wire tie, while also bouncing back into my left index finger. I drop the knife, hold my hand and do the nervous jumpy, hoppy dance around the living room while chanting "I am so stupid, gosh, this is so dumb. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god." When I gather the courage to look at my finger, there is a nice looking purple and blue bruise and a nice deep cut, it doesn't bleed at first and then it was like I parted the red sea! I wrap it in paper towels, and the bleeding is not stopping, so I do the only thing I can. I called my mommy. She lives around the corner from me and thank goodness because she was there in a flash and fixed me all up!

No stitches! Thanks mom!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

For most of us the holidays are a time for reflection, great memories and way too much food. This holiday season has been wonderful. I was able to really enjoy my family and close friends. I also nearly cut off my finger (OH YES... I will post a separate blog entry on that), made some awesome Christmas cookies and bought gifts from Amazon.com that were just too good to pass up.

I also realized this year that gifts are not special because of the amount spent, but because of the people that give them to you. The person that thought enough about you, to buy you something that you wouldn't have gotten for yourself. Of course let's also be honest and say, we all probably recieved something less than stellar, but smiled graciously and returned it! LOL This happens, but hey its all a part of the crazy holiday season.

I will also admit that amongst Christmas songs and FA LA LAs I said a curse word or two because someone cut me off on the road, or stole my spot in line at Walmart.. :-)

For New Year's we are staying home and enjoying either pizza, chicken or some other reasonably priced meal that will include champagne, and other goodies.

A HAPPY, HEALTHY PROSPEROUS 2009 TO EVERYONE!

drugstore.com

Hello! A friend of mine told me about this site and I think its great. Not on all products, but for alot of brand name and products that I use regularly the prices are great and they ship directly to your home, sometimes by the next day. This is a nice option when you are busy, or simply just want to shop online! You may end up saving quite a bit of cash. Whatever your local drugstore is whether it be Walgreens, CVS, or Eckerd, I would compare first and then decide if drugstore.com is worth your while. For me it is, I like it alot. Sometimes my puppy food is even a good price. And of course, always check out the clearance section!

Tis the Season to Give Chocolate

Chocolate, a second on the lips, forever on the hips. I have gotten so MUCH chocolate from vendors for the holidays I don't even know what to do with it, other than to regift it, or give it away! I am very appreciative, but I just find it so ironic that in January everyone will be on the healthy kick, and all the while we have stuffed our faces full of chocolates with unknown fillings.. That mystery always makes me laugh, some companies refuse to use the ever useful map and so you go through biting your way through a few different ones to find what you want. Good grief! I am going to hide this most recent gift and do my best not to eat every last morsel. Wish me luck and hey, if you want some of it, I will be happy to share!

Football Dayz

I had this on here before, and I will say it again, this is all about football pride! LOL That is my son on the left, I love that he chose to wear the pink bandana. Either this picture will totally embarrass him later on, or it will become part of a scrapbrook! Better yet maybe I will turn it into a poster... Hmmm.
Anyway, Tony did great this past football season, and won two awards. It is time for wrestling now and he is doing pretty well. I am very proud! He is althetic, smart and very funny.
